Leviticus 14:37-38
He is to examine the mildew on the walls, and if it has greenish or reddish depressions that appear to be deeper than the surface of the wall, the priest shall go out of the doorway of the house and close it up for seven days.
Leviticus 14:37-38
This is the regulation God gave His people concerning mildew in their homes. Once it was noticed they were to call for the Priest who would inspect the spot or section of the wall. He would make note of the size, color, and depth of the spot. Then before they did anything about it, they were to shut the house up for seven days. At the end of the seven days, the Priest would return and determine whether only the stones needed to be replaced or if the entire house needed to be torn down.
This reference may seem obscure, but the lesson isn’t. Are you uncertain or confused about things in your life, decisions to be made, what direction to go? Our tendency is to hold tighter on to the reins and try to steer the cart in the direction we think it should go. Instead, shut it up and stay out of the way for a while. Let God do the work. It will take an incredible amount of trust as we lift our hands off the situation and surrender it to His will. But in the midst of waiting and prayer, God will make it clear to you (Proverbs 3:5-6). There may just be a small part of your life you need to adjust; you may not have to tear down the whole house.
Shutting up the house so God can work,
