2 Chronicles 29:11
My sons, do not be negligent now, for the LORD has chosen you to stand before Him, to serve Him, and that you should minister to Him and burn incense.
2 Chronicles 29:11
In the very first month of King Hezekiah’s reign, he literally cleaned house. Hezekiah’s father, King Ahaz, disregarded the ways of God by trashing and shuttering the temple. In verse 5, Hezekiah commanded the Levites to get right with God and restore the temple, and in verse 11, he commended them not to be negligent in their duties, because they had been chosen by God to serve him and minister to him.
In the unfaithful atmosphere of the nation, the Levites had fallen away from their calling and had become negligent in their duties, but they resumed their calling stepped back into their duties and were joyful as they ministered to the Lord once again (2 Chronicles 29:30). Have you drifted from the calling that God has on your life? Did you once serve Him fervently, but now find your ministry has become ineffective? Don’t despair, because God still wants to use you. Be like the Levites during Hezekiah’s reign and first get yourself right with God, as the Levites did in verse 5. Then God can use you again to further the work of His kingdom.
