1 Peter 1:13

Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

Jesus is coming soon! How would our lives change if we knew Jesus was coming for His church in the next week or month? Would we be the same or different? Peter encourages us to set our hope fully on the grace that will be completed in us when Jesus Christ is revealed. Since this future revelation gives us an anchor for our present struggles, we then need to ask ourselves, “How does the promise of Christ’s return, however long it may take, impact my life today?” 

If we keep our eyes on the glory that awaits believers, this eternal perspective will motivate us to live with purpose and holiness now. A good thing for us to pray is that the Lord would give us a deepened longing for Christ’s return and for the strength to persevere until He comes.
