Matthew 11:28-30
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30
Do you ever feel like you just want to get away for a while? The disciples’ need for rest certainly resonates with our often-busy lives. Jesus recognized their weariness and invited them to “come aside” for a while. However, in the feeding of the five thousand, their rest came not through inactivity, but through witnessing God’s power at work. Sometimes, our deepest refreshment comes not from escaping our responsibilities, but from seeing God work through us in the midst of them.
Are you feeling weary? Instead of seeking escape, invite God’s presence into your daily tasks. Ask Him to renew your strength and show you His power at work in and through you. Find rest not in the absence of work, but in the assurance of His enabling presence with you. Being yoked together with Jesus is truly a burden-lifting experience that you can trust.
