1 John 2:14

I have written to you, fathers, Because you have known Him who is from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, Because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, And you have overcome the wicked one.

The young believers John commended weren’t spiritual superheroes—they simply had God’s Word abiding in them. The word “abide” means to make yourself at home with. God’s Word had taken up residence in their hearts, becoming their source of strength and victory over the enemy. You cannot overcome temptation, discouragement, or spiritual attack apart from Scripture dwelling richly within you. 

The sword of the Spirit is the only offensive weapon in your spiritual armor (Ephesians 6:17). How can you wield what you don’t know? Is God’s Word merely something you read, or has it become your source of daily strength? Victory isn’t found in your willpower but in God’s Word empowering you. Make His Word your daily bread, and watch it transform your battles into victories.
