Mark 8:31-33
And He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. He spoke this word openly. Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him. But when He had turned around and looked at His disciples, He rebuked Peter, saying, “Get behind Me, Satan! For you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.”
Mark 8:31-33
Jesus rebuked Peter for savoring the things of man rather than the things of God. Peter wanted a Messiah without suffering, a crown without a cross. We face the same temptation—to pursue comfort over obedience, ease over faithfulness. To grow spiritually, we must set our minds on things above, savoring God’s purposes even when they include suffering. God’s ways are higher than our ways. What He values—humility, sacrifice, obedience, the cross—often contradicts what the world prizes. We need to align your thinking with God’s heart. Let your mind dwell on eternal realities, not temporal comforts. Savor the things of God, and you will find true life.
