Psalm 27:4-6

One thing I have desired of the Lord, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the Lord, And to inquire in His temple. For in the time of troubleHe shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock. And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me; Therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord.

Psalm 27:4-6

In overwhelming complexity, David simplified everything to one desire: dwelling in God’s presence. Not deliverance from Saul. Not the throne God promised. Just God himself. When 400 desperate men looked to him for leadership, David first sought the Leader of all. He chose to gaze upon God’s beauty rather than fixate on his enemies’ threats. This is transformational—being consumed with the Promiser rather than the promise. 

What if today you stopped begging God to change your circumstances and simply asked to behold His beauty? Remaining in God’s presence produces confidence in His protection and generates genuine worship. Make this your prayer: “One thing I desire—Your presence, Lord. That’s enough.”
