Psalm 27:13-14

I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living. Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!

Psalm 27:13-14

David’s final instruction echoes with urgency: “Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord!” Waiting isn’t passive—it’s active faith, standing firm when everything says run. David believed he would see God’s goodness in the land of the living. The greatest threat in prolonged waiting is losing belief in God’s goodness. 

But Scripture promises that God acts for those who wait for Him. Nothing changed in David’s circumstances by the psalm’s end, but David himself was transformed. That’s what God is after—changing you, not just your situation. We should choose to wait expectantly. Resist defending yourself. Let God be God. He will act in His time.
