1 Corinthians 13:4-8

1 Corinthians 13:4-8

Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, [b]thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails…

1 Corinthians 13:4-8

The world has cheapened love into a fleeting emotion, but Scripture reveals love as a choice—a daily decision to put another’s needs above your own. Husbands are commanded to love their wives as Christ loved the church, sacrificially and unconditionally. Wives are called to respect their husbands. (Ephesians 5:25-33) These aren’t suggestions based on whether your spouse deserves it; they’re commands to obey regardless of feelings.

More marriages suffer from selfishness than any other cause. The first to say sorry wins because humility breaks the cycle of pride. Twenty years from now, today’s argument won’t matter, but your faithfulness will. Marriage is God’s institution, so His rules apply—and only what He establishes does He bless. Choose love today, even when you don’t feel it.
