Acts 1:8

Acts 1:8

“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Acts 1:8

If you had to pick one key verse in all of the Book of Acts, one verse that really points out what this book was all about, it would be verse 1:8,  ”You shall receive power.”   Throughout the gospels, Jesus gives us examples of how to live by faith, how to deal with people in this world, and how to deal with things in this life. From the get go, He knew we would need help.  And so He has sent the Helper, the Holy Spirit to give us that power.

I have good intentions and you have good intentions about serving the Lord.  We want to live this life for Him, but we can’t do it without help.  We need the Holy Spirit.  We need God’s power each and every day.  Have you ever tried to vacuum the floor or drill a hole with a power-drill without electricity?  It makes things a lot tougher, to say the least.  And the same thing happens if we try to live our lives for Christ without the power of the Holy Spirit.

Let’s start each day asking the Lord to fill us with the power of the Holy Spirit, to give us the power to live for Him and do his will.  And when we do, He will work mightily through us.

Seeking to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit,
