Acts 5:17-20

Acts 5:17-20

Then the high priest rose up, and all those who were with him (which is the sect of the Sadducees), and they were filled with indignation, and laid their hands on the apostles and put them in the common prison. But at night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and brought them out, and said, “Go, stand in the temple and speak to the people all the words of this life.

Acts 5:17-20

With great signs and wonders, the Lord was showing Himself strong through His people — healing the sick, delivering the oppressed, and ministering to all those who came. People were getting saved and the church was being added to. Then it came under another attack from the religious leaders. The high priest, Caiaphas, and the rest of the Sadducees, hearing about all that was happening, rose up and sent the temple police to grab the apostles and put them in jail.

But here comes another miracle and the Lord sends an angel to break them out of jail.  The apostles were content not to put up a fight, but rather trusted the Lord and are delivered without the guards knowing they were gone.

We serve such a great God. He bought us with a price and provides our every need. He sends us out as His ambassadors to bring the gospel to a lost world and even fights our battles when the enemy attacks. So what do we have to fear. “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31).
