Deuteronomy 17:18-19
Also it shall be, when he sits on the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write for himself a copy of this law in a book, from the one before the priests, the Levites. And it shall be with him, and he shall read it all the days of his life, that he may learn to fear the LORD his God and be careful to observe all the words of this law and these statutes.
Deuteronomy 17:18-19
God commanded when Israel had a king, they would have to write their own copy of the law with their own hand. Imagine a king laboring over pen and paper instead of having a servant do this. God wanted kings to be intimately acquainted with His law and His word.
Surely, they would spend hours and days doing this, so they could learn and know the law well. And they could have their own copy so they could take ownership of what was inside.
We should be taking this same seriousness with the Bible. We should take ownership of what it says, learn and know it well, and most importantly, live by it.
Delighting in His Word,
