Galatians 5:22-23

Galatians 5:22-23

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

Galatians 5:22-23

Why do Christians look different than the world? It’s because through Christ’s salvation we now have the Holy Spirit in us and the fruits in our lives that brings. It all starts with love, a sacrificial love given to us by the Lord towards others. We then have joy, the kind of joy that allowed Paul to sing praise songs even when in prison. Then there is peace. While the world frets about anything and everything, the Christian has a peace that comes from trust in God.

After that comes longsuffering, the ability to bear adversity that would drive most people crazy. Then there is kindness and goodness, two similar words that should guide our actions towards others. Following those two is faithfulness, not only towards God but others. You should be someone others can count on. Then comes gentleness. Unlike the world which says fight for your rights, we are willing to fight for what’s right, but not to try to win every battle. This is all followed by self-control, keeping your emotions under control when you’re ready to explode.

There is no law against any of these. If you have the fruits of the Spirit in your life, then there’s no need for a bunch of rules, you’re already following them.

Desiring more of You and less of me,

Pastor Ron Kitchell
