Hebrews 4:15-16

For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Here’s a good reminder…Jesus, our High Priest, walked in EVERY way where we walk. Satan assailed Him with the three temptations that brought on the Fall == the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life (1 John 2:16). The tree was “pleasant to the eyes” (kingdoms of the world), “good for food” (stones to bread), and “make one wise” (cast Yourself down). Jesus was not tempted to see if He could sin but to demonstrate that the origin, process, or result of sin was NOT even in Him. He was NOT able to sin. It wasn’t His nature. The same allurements and circumstances that daily bombard us assaulted Him. He saw, heard, and felt all these temptations but didn’t sin in thought, word, or deed.

Because He is our sympathetic High Priest, we can approach the throne of grace any time, as often as we wish, whenever we need. At times, our loving High Priest will apply the surgeon’s knife to deal with our hardened hearts, which can be painful. But Jesus uses a very effective anesthetic, it’s mercy and grace.
