Genesis 1:1

Genesis 1:1

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Genesis 1:1

How glorious is our God. He begins His love letter to man, the Bible, with a declaration of His existence without any further explanation or defense. We know God existed before this reference and that we were in His heart already before this reference as well (Ephesians 1:4). He declares that He created the world, barra is the Hebrew word meaning to make out of nothing that exists. It is creation not assembling as God spoke the world and all that is in it into being! If we could simply believe this revelation from our Lord, the rest of the Bible will open up to you and you will see the God who made us and loves us so.

Some folks however cannot believe that “In the beginning God created” and by eliminating Him from their declaration they instead turn to the theories of evolution. “In the beginning” there were gasses and space and the stage was set for a really big bang? But where did the space and gas come from? Logic alone would demand that there must be an “uncaused first cause.” Creation demands a Creator. Something cannot come from nothing, nothing ever has, except from God’s hand. The same is true for a beautiful building, a watch, your clothes, your home and car…they all needed a creator, a builder. Rejoice today in God’s greatness and His love and share with someone the verse as God reveals Himself from the very beginning!

My God is great!
