2 Timothy 2:22

“Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.”

2 Timothy 2:22

None of us are immune to youthful lust no matter how old we are. And this verse offers us a practical game plan to combat sin and please God. First, we flee from youthful lusts. Like Joseph leaving behind his coat when temptation came at him, we too should run and flee, whatever the cost.

Second, we pursue righteousness. We aren’t told to sit on our hands and hope for the best. We have something actionable for us to do. We pursue righteousness, we pursue faith, love, and pursue peace with other believers. 

These things will keep us from the temptation of youthful lusts and sin. And when we see temptation coming, we flee in the other direction.
