Isaiah 14:16-17

Isaiah 14:16-17

“Those who see you will gaze at you, And consider you, saying: ‘Is this the man who made the earth tremble, Who shook kingdoms, made the world as a wilderness And destroyed its cities, Who did not open the house of his prisoners?’

Isaiah 14:16-17

Isaiah 14 records the fall in heaven of a chief angel named Lucifer, who would be cast out of heaven and renamed many things including the devil, Satan, the deceiver, and the god of this world. His wicked intentions and actions are clear to all. Though we are no match for him, once we surrender our lives to Jesus Christ, the devil has no power over us. In fact, the apostle John in 1 John 4:4 says, “that greater is He who is in us that he who is in the world.”

Our verses this morning tell us when all is said and done, this enemy of man while be seen as weak and insignificant in the light of the coming of our glorious Lord. The devil certainly seeks to stumble us and cause fear and unfaithfulness in our lives. Bur remember our God is greater and one day, the enemy will be overthrown and you will stand victoriously in the Lord. Look to Jesus today, because by standing in Him, the enemy has no power over us.

There is victory in Jesus today!
