Isaiah 29:13

Therefore the Lord said: “Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths And honor Me with their lips, But have removed their hearts far from Me, And their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men…”

One of the greatest acts of submission to the Lord is to worship Him. Today’s verse reminds us that true worship goes beyond outward actions and traditions. God desires sincere hearts that are close to Him. What are your own worship practices? Are they merely lip service, or do they stem from a genuine love for God?

Are there any areas in your life where you might be holding onto religious traditions without truly engaging your heart? We would call that, “Going through the motions.” Ask God to reveal any areas where you’ve drifted from Him and pray for a renewed passion in your relationship with Him. And keep in mind, God is more concerned with the condition of your heart than with outward appearances.
