James 3:5
“Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles!”
James 3:5
We have all heard the old saying, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” Unfortunately, it’s not biblically accurate. James says here that words cause immense problems; they cause damage we cannot fix and cause hurt.
James will continue to say in the next verses that while man has been able to tame every kind of beast, no man can tame the tongue. I think we can all relate to being hurt by the words of others, and also hurting others with our words as well. So, how do we tame our tongues?
We can only win this battle by submitting all our words to God and letting him direct not just our paths but our tongues as well. Only He can quench the raging fire that our tongues are.
Submitting my words to Him,
