Psalm 138:8

Psalm 138:8

The LORD will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O LORD, endures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands.

Psalm 138:8

One thing is for sure: our Lord is no quitter! He did not save us only to then retire from His work in us when He is halfway through. Paul knew that as he told the Philippian church the exact same thing (Philippians 1:6). Paul wrote to the Hebrews that Jesus was the Author and the Finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).  David, in our verse today, tells us he knew that already in 1,000 BC.

The longer I have known the Lord, the worse I look to myself. I wish the changes were quick and the progress more steady. I have wondered over the years what God must think of my growth. Yet when I read this verse, any fear of the future is laid aside. God is not finished with me yet. He is still molding and shaping me and applying His hand evenly and often to bend me more toward Him.

The same is true for you today! Look for His hand at work and be encouraged. He will finish what He started.

Being shaped each day by His hand,

Pastor Jack Abeelen
