John 17:11
Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are.
John 17:11
We are told in numerous places of the Bible the importance of prayer and how we are to pray continually without wavering, in faith. So it makes sense that here in John 17 we see Jesus being an example of the importance of prayer by praying for us. His prayer is so comforting and full of compassion because even though He was about to finish the work the Father had sent Him to do and would soon return to heaven, He realized we would still be here to face this world.
So Jesus simply asks the Lord of the Universe to keep us through His powerful name so the relationship of the redeemed and the Savior would be unbroken like that of the Father and the Son. Do you think the Father is capable of keeping us? Jesus seemed to think so.
