Luke 15:4-5

Luke 15:4-5

“What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing.”
Luke 15:4-5

We are like this lost sheep, having gone astray apart from God. We’re alone, unable to fend for ourselves, and in great danger from the enemy. And yet, our Great Shepherd comes after us. No matter how many other sheep He has, He comes looking for us.

And when He does find us, like the shepherd in Jesus’ parable, He doesn’t scold us. Instead, He carries us across His shoulders and rejoices. The ending verse of the parable says, “I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance” (Luke 15:7).

How amazing is that? Our God rejoices over us being found. He loves us so much He sent His only Son to come and make a way for us, to find us, and bring us to Him.

Found in Him,
