Luke 17:13-14

Luke 17:13-14

And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” So when He saw them, He said to them, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed.
Luke 17:13-14

There were ten lepers who came to Jesus here in these verses, crying out for mercy. They call Him “Master,” and He decided to put that to the test. He tells them to go show themselves to the priests. Anyone cleansed of leprosy had to be evaluated by the priest to be deemed clean. Well, there is one problem: Jesus didn’t heal them immediately. It says they were healed as they went. They had to turn and go towards the priests, not knowing if they would be healed by the time they got there.

How often do we find ourselves in situations like this, where we are forced to rely on faith, not feelings, and must step out and trust that God would be there to work it all out? For these lepers, they learned this lesson in a very real and tangible way.

Today, whatever comes our way, let us rely on the Lord in faith and not feelings.

Being cleansed,
Pastor David Reeves
