Luke 9:23

Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.”

Luke 9:23

To follow Christ requires more than just desire. We have to be willing to pay the price, we must take up our cross. Taking up your cross is a way of saying you are taking part in putting your old self to death. You daily put to death the person you are apart from Christ. You daily crucify your old ways. You daily put your sins into the ground. 

We die to ourselves so we can be more like Jesus.
