Mark 7:26-29

Mark 7:26-29

The woman was a Greek, a Syro-Phoenician by birth, and she kept asking Him to cast the demon out of her daughter. But Jesus said to her, “Let the children be filled first, for it is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs.” And she answered and said to Him, “Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs under the table eat from the children’s crumbs.” Then He said to her, “For this saying go your way; the demon has gone out of your daughter.”

Mark 7:26-29

The Syrophoenician woman’s encounter with Jesus teaches us about the power of persistent faith. Despite facing silence, cultural barriers, and seeming rejection, she persevered in her request. Her faith was not based on who she was, but on who Jesus is. Her faith is displayed in that she came boldly. Note that. She comes boldly to Jesus.

So where does that leave us? We’ve all had times in our lives where we may have given up too quickly in prayer. Remember that God’s silence doesn’t mean rejection; it may be an invitation to deeper faith. So take a lesson from the Syrophoenician woman and apply some persistent faith to your current circumstances. Jesus never hides himself from human need. Do you have a need here today? Bring it to Him. He won’t hide Himself from your need.
