Matthew 5:23-24

Matthew 5:23-24

“Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.”

Matthew 5:23-24

Jesus offers an antidote to broken relationships: reconciliation.

Don’t think we can stand before God in praise while we hate our brother. When we find ourselves in the worship of the Lord, we should take that opportunity to reflect on the relationship we have with others.  And if we recognize that we’re harboring bitter feelings, or had a falling out or dispute with someone, we need to reconcile immediately. The longer we wait the worse the bondage becomes.

It has been well said that the person who refuses to forgive his brother destroys the very bridge over which he himself must walk. If you’ve sensed a hindrance in your worship and submission to the Lord, do a relationship check and see if there is somewhere you might need to make peace.
