Matthew 6:19-21
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal;but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Matthew 6:19-21
We divide spiritual and material but Jesus didn’t. Jesus is not magnifying poverty or criticizing wealth. It is not wrong to possess things, but it is wrong for things to possess us. The treasures of earth may be used for God, but if we gather material things for ourselves, we will lose them; and we will lose our hearts with them.
The things of this world are subject to corruption, deterioration, and tragic loss, while every deposit in the heavenly storehouse is eternally protected. So have the attitude toward your personal belongings that they ALL belong to God and He can use them anyway He sees fit. Not, “Lord what of mine should I give to you?” but, “What of Yours may I use?” Also, the one thing here on earth that we can take with us to heaven…? RELATIONSHIPS!!! So, invest in that and see where it takes your heart.
