Solomon's Later Years

There was never a king in Israel that was elevated to heights in the eyes of the world like that of Solomon. However, this great exhalation was Solomon’s downfall that cause him to forsake the Lord through his hundreds of marriages to non-Israelite women who turned his heart away from God. Because of this, God rebuked Solomon and told him that his kingdom would not last beyond his reign and indeed it didn’t. After Solomon died, the Kingdom divided with eleven tribes seceding and forming their own kingdom choosing Jeroboam to be king.
