Numbers 6:24-26

Numbers 6:24-26

“The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.”

Numbers 6:24-26

In the days Moses was leading the people of Israel to the Promised Land, he was told by the Lord to speak to Aaron and his sons and have them give the above blessing to the people. It is such an awesome blessing that reminds us of God’s sovereignty and our need for Him.

It starts with the Lord blessing us and keeping us. He gives us spiritual gifts and keeps us safe from the wiles of the enemy, lures of our flesh, and the world. It then says the Lord will shine His face upon us, which means He’s watching over us and seeing us through the lens of His Son’s salvation.

Next, this blessing asks that the Lord be gracious to us, that we would receive what we don’t deserve. He then lifts His countenance upon us, looking at us with love, and gives us peace. Only through God can we have peace in this world – that peace that surpasses all understanding.

We do nothing to deserve these blessings, but accept His Son in our lives. I’m glad God loves me enough to do all this for me!

Blessed!
