Proverbs 15:8-12
The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, But the prayer of the upright is His delight. The way of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, But He loves him who follows righteousness. Harsh discipline is for him who forsakes the way, And he who hates correction will die. Hell and Destruction are before the LORD; So how much more the hearts of the sons of men. A scoffer does not love one who corrects him, Nor will he go to the wise.
Proverbs 15:8-12
Our verses today come from the pen of Solomon as God speaks through him about His response to the wicked, the transgressor, the one who does not desire to bow himself before the Lord. He says He will (v. 8) refuse their sacrifices: the religion of the unbeliever gains him nothing with God. He will also (v. 9) refuse their ways. It may look today as if evil has won, but not so fast; God will have the last word.
He will yet (v. 10) rebuke their stubbornness: some never turning from their wickedness and dying in their sins to face eternal judgment. Tragically, one day (v.11), He will reject their souls. In the meantime, we were told our Lord will (v. 12) record their scorn and scoffing.
Now contrast the (v. 8) prayers of the upright. Delight our God; (v. 9) He loves those who follow righteousness.
May you delight the Lord today!
