Proverbs 21:1

The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, Like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes.

When I consider the path of a river, I must admit that my subconscious conclusion is that it is random; however, this is not the case. God is in complete control of every aspect of His creation; He did not wind it up like a clock and walk away, letting things occur by chance and randomness.

It is the same for those who rule over us. We observe the political state of affairs, and we may conclude that things are random and out of control, but God is in charge. The next time you are frustrated because things are not the way they ought to be, remember God is in charge and rest assured knowing that He promises peace in your heart as you enter His rest.
