Psalm 14:1
The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, They have done abominable works, There is none who does good.
Psalm 14:1
Before Jesus saved me, I was an atheist for over a decade. People would approach me telling me I was heading for Hell or they would give me the verse above. Certainly looking back on my time as an atheist, I do agree I was foolish not to believe in God, but it’s important we don’t miss the true target of this verse – anybody who doesn’t believe there’s a God in their heart.
Just because a person says he or she is a Christian doesn’t make it so. What do they believe in their heart? All of us stumble in sin and Paul would use the last part of this verse to make his point in Romans three, that none of us is any good.
Until we truly give our life to Jesus and let Him do the work in our hearts, we all tend to be foolish. It’s better to believe in Jesus and get rid of our foolish ways!
Thanks, Jesus, for saving this fool,
