Psalm 19:7-9

Psalm 19:7-9

The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul;
The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;
The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;
The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever;
The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.

Psalm 19:7-9

All of the words used above like law, testimony, and statutes are just different ways of mentioning God’s word. Verse seven tells us the Law is perfect and if God’s word is perfect, we can believe it and we can follow it. I also like that it is sure and gives wisdom to the simplest of people.

Verse eight tells us reading God’s word will rejoice our heart because His statutes are right. How many times have we as Christians been told we’re wrong in our beliefs, but we have joy because of the surety of the Word? His commandments are pure and our eyes are enlightened. We don’t have to believe what the world says is good, because we have God’s mind towards right and wrong.

In the next verse, we see the fear of the Lord is clean and the word will endure forever; and that God’s judgments are true and righteous. Some people don’t like that God does things of which they don’t approve, but He only does those things which are true and righteous.

If you ever forget how awesome the Bible is, remember these verses!

Loving God’s word,
