Psalm 66:10
For You, O God, have tested us; You have refined us as silver is refined.
Psalm 66:10
The process for refining silver, in a nutshell, goes something like this: The crushed ore is heated on a porous bed of bone ash until it melts. Next the lead and other impurities are absorbed into the bone ash, and the molten silver is drawn off. Sounds simple enough, right? But what if I told you that is exactly what God wants to do to us? Well, now it might sound a little scary and painful if I’m being honest. But that’s exactly what needs to be done if we are to be refined and purified. Because something is not able to be used unless it has been made perfect and ready for action.
God is not in the business of “good enough.” He wants us to be put through a refining process. Then we question His methods or complain when the heat gets turned up. The created is never greater than the Creator and to question the One who holds the perfect mold for our lives just goes to show how little we know and how much we need Him. If God is allowing you to be uncomfortable and you have to endure a little pain, remember He is the Master Refiner and He will pull you out of the fire when you have been made perfect. It is only then that you will no longer be “good enough,” but you will be ready and willing and able to do His will.
