Think about a situation where you were wronged. Not just wronged, but you were wronged terribly by someone. You were probably frustrated, had some choice words you wanted to say, and possibly started scheming how you could get your revenge or vengeance on that person.
How opposite this is from the what the Lord would have us do! One of our tests of trust in God is not thinking it’s necessary to have vengeance on anyone because the Lord will avenge. If the Lord sees fit, there could be wrath, but we know the hope of God is reconciliation and forgiveness. Don’t be quick to avenge or to wrath, but consider the cost that Jesus paid for you and showcase His grace, mercy, and forgiveness. If we truly trust the Lord, He knows how to handle people better than we can. Trust the Lord when your heart’s inclination is vengeance and see how the Lord will fight the battle.
