1 Timothy 1:5

1 Timothy 1:5

Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith.

1 Timothy 1:5

There’s nothing worse than a guilty conscience. Herod’s torment over his guilty conscience, regarding John’s execution, illustrates the heavy burden of unresolved sin. In contrast, the gospel offers us the gift of a clear conscience through Christ’s forgiveness.

We all have areas of our lives where we might be carrying guilt or shame. Bring these before God, accepting His forgiveness and cleansing. Pray for the Holy Spirit to empower you to live with integrity, so that like John, you can be described as “just and holy.” A clear conscience gives us confidence in our relationship with God and enables us to serve Him more effectively.
