Psalm 32:1-2

Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, Whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man to whom the LORD does not impute iniquity, And in whose spirit there is no deceit.

Psalm 32:1-2

Psalm 32 is the second of seven psalms known as psalms of repentance (Psalms 6, 32, 38, 51, 102, 130, and 143). This one is introduced as a Contemplation: a word of instruction that will make us wise as we chew on its words and truths. The word Selah is found three times in only 11 verses. It’s a Hebrew word meaning to pause and consider.  

The context of this psalm was David’s sin with Bathsheba. After hiding his sin for quite some time and suffering as a consequence (Psalm 51), David writes here of the joys and relief that confession of his sin to God brought! He can’t say it enough: my sin forgiven, covered, God not counting it against me any longer (imputed)! Is there anything today you are seeking to hide from the Lord? A sin that you know He knows? Confession and repentance can today bring God’s cleansing and, like David, you will be singing His praises for His goodness!
