Hosea 10:12
Sow for yourselves righteousness; Reap in mercy; Break up your fallow ground, For it is time to seek the LORD, Till He comes and rains righteousness on you.
Hosea 10:12
Fallow ground is ground that has been left unplowed for a season. It’s often dry, hard, and stubborn. It does little good to sow seeds on fallow ground, it must be broken up first. It has to be softened.
God’s point to Israel here is their hearts were fallow ground, they were hard and stubborn. They needed to be broken up.
Our hearts can be like that at times as well. Hardened to God and His Word, unrepentant towards sin, and downright stubborn. God tells us how to deal with this though “For it is time to seek the LORD, Till He comes and rains righteousness on you.”
So today, let’s seek the Lord and let Him and His Word break up the fallow ground of our hearts.
Breaking up the fallow ground,
