1 Kings 17:1-3, 5
And Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the Lord God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except at my word.” Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “Get away from here and turn eastward, and hide by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan… So he went and did according to the word of the Lord, for he went and stayed by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan.

Do you struggle in our day of mass information to hear the voice of God? In a world full of noise and distraction, Elijah’s ability to hear and obey God’s voice stands out. Like Elijah, as we too live in challenging times, God is still speaking. Elijah’s strength was his ability to simply obey and trust in the promise of God.
So, our challenge then becomes creating space in our busy day to hear God’s voice. Setting aside the things that would distract us. Keeping in mind that our effectiveness as believers is directly linked to our obedience. Ask God to sharpen your spiritual hearing and give you the courage to obey, even when His directions seem unconventional or challenging.
