Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.
Having referenced the lives of so many saints through the ages who had lived by faith in Hebrews 11, Paul now turns to the present saints to say to them, now it is your turn to run the race and be a witness and run to win, following their examples.
Run without being weighed down by the world around you or the sinful ways that easily beset you; run with endurance realizing this is not a sprint but a long journey; run keeping your eyes on Jesus every step of the way and remember that there will be a price to pay in this life for associating yourself with Jesus Christ (Hebrews 11:3-4). Ready to run saints? Let’s go!
On your mark, get set, GO!
