Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away.
Have you ever drifted? Cars drift out of lanes, boats drift off course, and airplanes drift from flight paths. Drifting is subtle, it happens so slowly you sometimes don’t notice until it’s too late. Neglect in spiritual matters can result in spiritual drifting. We begin to ignore the guardrails of God’s Word.
We must stand on the truth of the Gospel and our salvation and let that be our anchor in the storm. How many of you have flown on a plane numerous times? Do you still pay attention to the safety instructions? Unfortunately, when a real emergency occurs either on the plane or in our lives, we may not do well in the crash or the trial if we’ve drifted away from the instructions given.
Taking heed to what we’ve heard,
Pastor Gerard Deleeuw
