Hebrews 2:14-15

Hebrews 2:14-15

Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
Hebrews 2:14-15

It seems like the older you get, the more folks you know are passing into eternity. But how do we, as Christians, view death? Jesus became flesh and blood to do for us what we couldn’t do for ourselves. By suffering and dying, He struck the devil as a deathblow. Satan’s sword, “the power of death,” has been torn from his grasp. No Christian need fear death, for Satan has been vanquished, and for the believer, death is only a promotion.

God has turned what Satan meant to destroy into a gift that cannot harm us. In the meantime, we who were once enslaved to the power of death have been freed from the fear of death. Our leaving this life means entering life eternal when our last breath on earth becomes our first breath in heaven.

Death, where is your sting?
