Matthew 5:27-28

Matthew 5:27-28

You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’  But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”

Matthew 5:27-28

“Be careful little eyes what you see.  For the Father up above is looking down in love, so be careful little eyes what you see.”  That was a song I learned in Sunday School and as a child had no idea how profound that would be as I grew and became aware of the lures and lusts the world would bring.  Sin often travels the path of thought, emotion, and action and that initial thought often comes in through the eye gate.

We like Job must make a covenant with our eyes to keep our hearts pure so that, as Jesus promised,  “The pure in heart shall see God.” So how do we get victory?  By purifying the desires of our hearts and substituting these thoughts with the things of God.
